Before the book, I'd never thought about writing. Becoming an author was never something that had even crossed my mind. The monotone garbling of English professors, strict deadlines, and drab assignments on things like fast fashion and the common core curriculum were all that came to mind when I sat down to write. Until I stumbled across creative writing and the craft of fiction. Something my high school language arts classes waved off in favor of yet another unit on hard and fast grammar rules year after year.

It was the last class I needed to graduate, and because I was involved in a combination of traditional, homeschool, and dual enrolment college classes, I got to choose what the subject would be. Without giving it much thought, I picked up two creative writing textbooks and sat down to write a short story for my class. Little did I know, what was supposed to be a thirty-page assignment would end up being the first draft manuscript of my debut novel.

As someone who has spent years in the field, navigating it in all its extensive and ever-changing nature at as young as sixteen years old, I've learned a lot of tough lessons the hard way. I've stumbled and struggled and spent a lot of time frantically searching the internet for answers I could never seem to get without surrendering my credit card information for a "free" trial subscription to one website or another. Sound familiar? I get it. And I'm here to help. I want to take you new authors through all the steps that come before the book. From the moment you conceptualize your novel to the first time you see your name printed across it's spine.

 

Most of all, I want to help you answer one question. What is it that fuels you? For me, it’s writing. I love speaking out about my passions, what interests me, what interests others, and sharing all of my thoughts with my readers.
